Introducing the Sundowner Chair, a tubular metal frame chair with detachable leather seat, whose design was inspired by the itinerant outback worker.
The name 'Sundowner' is a tribute to the restless wanderer and poet in all of us, whilst the materials used in its construction pay homage to the rugged beauty of the Australia landscape.
Constructed with a sturdy brushed stainless steel frame and a comfortable, easy to clean veg-tanned bovine leather seat, this chair is the perfect complement to the firmness and stillness of the Tadao Ando-designed MPavilion.
Sculpted with meticulous attention to detail, the Sundowner Chair favours the craftsman.
The leather seat is reminiscent of the saddles used by outback workers, while the brushed stainless steel frame evokes the earth from which it was wrought. The leather seat is weather resistant and soft to the touch. The seat is comfortable, repairable, and interchangeable.
This chair is both practical and elegant.
Like basking in the eternal glow and warmth of a bush camp fire, the MPavilion offers and opportunity for sojourners to gather, sit and contemplate in collective tranquillity, before setting forth refreshed, inspired and filled with hope.
